Throughout the month of March, customers contributed to local
charities at area Jersey Mike’s locations. The campaign culminated on
March 28 with “Make a Difference Day.” On that day, depending on their
market, customers had different participation choices: either receiving
a free sub for a minimum $2 contribution or 50 percent of all proceeds
of the day were contributed to the charity. The hope was that people
would be inspired to give even more than the price of their sub – and,
based on the success of the campaign, many did.
“Once again, the generosity of our customers and franchise team
members is cause for celebration -- thanks to their efforts, we raised
over 40 percent more than last year’s Month of Giving program,” said
Peter Cancro, founder and CEO of Jersey Mike's Franchise Systems. “We
are so pleased to be able to support these often under-funded
organizations which are improving the lives of our nation’s children.”
Last year’s “Month of Giving” raised $600,000 for 66 local charities.
In 2011 overall, Jersey Mike’s locations raised more than $2 million
for worthy local charities and distributed more than 200,000 free sub
sandwiches to help numerous causes.
Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike’s continued its
steady growth in 2011 opening 69 new restaurants nationwide, a 15
percent increase overall.
Passionate Jersey Mike's fans crave their subs made Mike's Way™ with
onions, lettuce, tomatoes and a signature blend of olive oil, red wine
vinegar and spices. The company uses only private labeled meats and
cheeses that are sliced fresh for each sub sandwich and piled high on
in-store baked bread. Everything is quickly made to order for each
customer, just the way the first subs were made at the original Jersey
Mike's more than fifty years ago. The Jersey Mike’s experience always
includes its trademark neighborly banter served up by a high-energy
Jersey Mike’s team.
